Production Designer for Who is Leah Dou? Uncovering the core of the musician’s multi-faceted soul
"If I could create a wonderland for myself, what would it look like?"
Leah Dou sets out to answer that question with the release of her third full length album titled GSG MIXTAPE. Written with an alter ego in mind — “Green Shy Guy" (GSG) — an alias bestowed to her by her friend’s children. GSG appears in the album visually and is also the title of the first track, written by Leah as a way to explore the notion of different states of being; where Good and Evil exist together in the same person.
"Music captures the finest details of what a person is like. It’s always in the music. Because it is mysterious, it is full of surprises. Because it is a long journey, it is an adventure. Perhaps even a wonderland."
The film "Leah Dou", directed by Roni Shao, shows the artist expounding on her multi-faceted identity and musical journey, and serves as a visual rendition of her album. Leah reveals her progression through life and discovers who she is by going down the rabbit hole of exploration. "As the journey unfolds through four sections, it shows us Leah's ambivalence - dark and passionate; sad and happy; desperate and hopeful," Shao explains. "Music is a mirror to see our dark side, and it is also a healing power that elevates us."
On 12 December, “HEY, GSG” a film directed by Roni Shao, featuring Leah’s live performance and her music journey of her new album “GSG MIXTAPE” will be released.
